A week from this Saturday, I'll be in St. Louis for the fall NSPA national high school journalism convention. I'll be presenting on practical tips for high school photojournalists. I think my session is called "Photography: What No One Told You" or something along those lines.
I was just going to these conventions myself just as recent as last spring, so to suddenly be a presenter is...ridiculous! I'll also be judging the yearbook copy and captions write-off contest.
For my presentation, I'm using my own photography....if there are any shots or anything that you think I should definitely, no-ifs-ands-or-buts about it include, hit me up! Also, any advice that you think I should pass on to the younglings will be very much appreciated. I do have to fill up 45 minutes, which shouldn't be hard for someone who likes to talk so much, but you never know....
I'm also missing a really fabulous party to do so, so.....ahhhh! Wish me luck!

aside from my own sentimental reasons, it's an excellent example of several important aspects of photojournalism: interesting composition, angle, and yet a spontaneous, effortless feel -- like, not staged, familiar, you know.
i continue to be blown away by how hardcore your yearbook stuff is, ahahah. you make me ashamed of my own yearbooking endeavours : D

I'm not THAT impressive. it's so ridiculous here. There are people that have alread done intern work for ESPN and every other major news service out there. It's so intimidating! Competition, man. Luckily I have a pretty narrow field I want to go into and don't actually want to be a journalist.
That's so exciting, though! Best of luckkk although I'm sure you will be a lovely presenter, no problems. :]
my friend from high school is in her second year of television/broadcasting, and last month she was on the red carpet of the film festival interviewing bradd pitt and stuff. in second year!! what the hawk? my accomplishments seem so feeble in comparison.

But I'm hoping to work as a designer or an editor on a publications staff :] like, sit at a desk. definitely not an out-in-the-field journalist, I get too anxious. and the more I do photojournalism, the more I realize I don't want to do it as an actual career. Which is depressing, but I suppose good to figure out.
